Vee Dental - Extraction

About Extraction

Simply put, when you have a dental problem that is beyond the scope of general dentistry, you will need dental implants and oral surgery.

Severe tooth decay or periodontal disease:When tooth decay has penetrated deep into the pulp, or when periodontal disease has damaged the periodontal tissues so that they cannot be retained by other means.
Improperly grown wisdom teeth:When wisdom teeth don't have enough room to grow properly, they can become inflamed, painful, and even crowd out neighbouring teeth, causing a variety of oral problems.
Crown fracture and trauma:When a tooth breaks due to an impact and cannot be repaired, it may need to be extracted.
The need for orthodontic treatment:Before orthodontic treatment, some teeth may need to be extracted to solve the problem of insufficient space in the dental arch.

Our Treatments

Extraction Overview

Severe tooth decay and periodontal disease

Suitable for "deep pulpal decay" or "damaged periodontal tissues", the goal is to remove the lesion and prevent the spread of infection.

  • Serious tooth decay:When the decay has penetrated deep into the pulp and the infection is so severe that it cannot be saved by root canal treatment.
  • Periodontal Disease:When periodontal disease has damaged the alveolar bone, it can lead to severe loosening of the teeth and even affect neighbouring teeth.

Blocked or abnormal growth of wisdom teeth

Ideal for addressing "insufficient space" or "improper growth" of wisdom teeth with the goal of relieving pain and preventing oral problems.

  • Wisdom tooth obstruction:When wisdom teeth don't have enough room to erupt properly and grow horizontally or obliquely, causing inflammation or pain.
  • Dental trauma:When a tooth is broken in an accident and cannot be repaired.

Orthodontics

It is suitable for solving the problem of "insufficient space" or "misalignment of teeth" with the goal of creating enough space for orthodontic treatment.

  • Rectification is required:Sometimes an orthodontist may recommend removing some teeth in order to gain enough space for the teeth to align properly.

Detailed Procedure of Extraction

What is the procedure for Extraction?

01

Primary Diagnosis and Anaesthesia

This is the starting point for all treatments to minimise the discomfort of the extraction process.

  1. Comprehensive Oral Examination:Your dentist will assess the condition of your mouth through an intra- and extra-oral examination and take x-rays to confirm the condition of the teeth, roots and surrounding bone.
  2. Local anaesthesia:After confirming that the extraction is ready, the dentist will administer local anaesthesia to the affected area to minimise any discomfort during the entire extraction process.

02

Removal and Cleaning

This is the core step of the treatment, designed to remove the damaged tooth and ensure that the wound is clean.

  1. Loosen your teeth:Once the tooth is completely loosened, the dentist will remove it with dental forceps. The whole process usually takes only a few minutes.
  2. Removal of teeth:If your problem is a wisdom tooth or an impacted tooth, your dentist will perform wisdom tooth surgery or impacted tooth surgery at this stage. These surgeries are designed to remove painful and infected teeth and maintain oral health.
  3. Clean the wound:After the tooth is extracted, the dentist will thoroughly clean the socket to remove any remaining tissue or debris to prevent infection.

03

Post-operative care and follow-up

Good recovery and regular follow up after surgery.

  1. Stop the bleeding and bandage:The dentist will place a gauze over the wound for you to bite down on to stop the bleeding. Detailed post-operative care instructions will be provided, including dietary precautions and cleaning methods.
  2. Regular return visits:Your dentist will schedule a follow-up visit to check on wound healing and answer any questions you may have during your recovery.
