Our Treatments

Pedodontics Overview

Non-sedating treatment: for children who can co-operate

This is the treatment of choice for most children. Through the dentist's patient guidance, gentle encouragement and phased treatment, children will gradually adapt to the dental environment and develop a positive dental experience.

  • Treatment Programme:Dental check-up, fluoride application, socket sealant, simple cavity filling, dental cleaning.

Sedation: for children who need extra help

Sedation is a safe and effective option when a child is extremely fearful of a dental visit, is unable to co-operate, or requires more complex, lengthy treatment (such as multiple cavity fillings, root canals on baby teeth, or extractions).

  • Therapeutic purposes:Helping your child to relax or enter a light sleep state makes the treatment process safe and smooth, while preventing trauma from dental visits.
  • The usual way:Inhaled Laughing Gas, Oral Sedation Medications, etc. All sedation treatments are assessed by a dentist and are monitored throughout to ensure your child's safety.

Detailed Paediatric Dental Procedure

What is the procedure for Pedodontics?

01

Initial consultation and trust building

This is the starting point and the most crucial step in any treatment.

  1. Friendly environment and introduction:We will introduce the clinic equipment and dental procedures in a language and manner that is familiar to your child.
  2. Comprehensive Oral Examination:The dentist will gently check the condition of your child's teeth and perform intra- and extra-oral photographs and x-rays to assess decay, periodontal condition and tooth replacement progress.
  3. Develop a treatment plan:Depending on the child's examination results and co-operation, the dentist will discuss in detail with the parents to decide whether non-sedation or sedation is required.

02

Non-sedating treatment

When the child is able to co-operate with the treatment, non-sedation is used and this is our preferred method.

  1. Behavioural guidance:The dentist will explain the treatment steps in a way that the child can understand through the "talk, do, see" technique.
  2. Distraction Techniques:Use cartoons, toys, or talking to your child to divert their attention.
  3. Treatment Programme:Dental checkups, fluoride application, socket sealants, simple cavity fillings and dental cleanings.

03

Sedation

When a child is extremely anxious about a dental appointment, is unable to co-operate, or requires a more complex and time-consuming treatment, we will discuss sedation with the parents.

  1. Prior assessment:The dentist will assess the child's physical condition to ensure that sedation is appropriate.
  2. Sedation process:Safe and effective forms of sedation, such as inhaled nitrous oxide or oral sedative medication, are used to allow the child to complete the treatment in a relaxed or light sleep state under full supervision.
  3. Treatment Programme:Multiple cavity fillings, root canal treatment for baby teeth or complex extractions, etc.

04

Post-operative recovery and regular follow-up

  • Regardless of the modality, good post-operative care and regular follow-ups are crucial to ensure the outcome of the treatment. We will provide detailed care guidelines and remind parents to bring their children back for regular visits to maintain good oral health.
